Ray Power – Chairman
A British national and co-founder of Ascot Group, Ray Power’s experience in the Balkans spans over 15 years and combines a strong mix of commercial and political insight during some of the most formative years of modern FYR countries.
His first investment in the Macedonian private sector was in 2003 with his software company – which has since become the first IT company to be listed on the Macedonian Stock Exchange – after conceiving, developing and bringing to market a proprietary marketing technology.
Ray began his mining and metals trading business in 2008, executing a number of transactions in the region as part of what was to become the Ascot Group core business.
Simon Harris – Director
Founding Partner & CEO of The Universal Group – The Universal Group provides international legal and paralegal services supporting compliance with anti-corruption legislation, consulting for effective corporate governance and notary services across a wide range of jurisdictions to some of the world’s most best known companies and organisations. Simon Harris has been doing business in the Balkans for 5 years.
Prior to founding The Universal Group Simon gained 14 years senior management experience in some of the world’s largest IT equipment manufacturer’s, Carriers and Systems Integrators with a wealth of experience spanning Europe the Middle East and Africa. Simon has a great deal of hands on experience in working within disparate legislative and regulatory environments across a wide range of geographies, industries and markets, solving challenges and removing blocks to international investment and collaborative success.
As well as being a founding partner in The Universal Group, Mr Harris is locum tenēns Company Secretary for a number of listed and non-listed companies and is currently in the process of completing accreditation with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Brian Richards – CSR Secretariat
Brian Richards is the CSR Secretariat of the BBGM. He has been living and working in Macedonia since 1997. He is a founding member of a local NGO called Integrity Alpha & Omega that challenges young people to live their lives focused on future goals.
Mr Richards has helped to define the work of both the BBGM and its members in connecting to the community in strategic ways. Through fund raising events, several orphanages have been renovated and the lives of young people improved. Also, BBGM sponsored Volunteer Days have given opportunities for businesses to send their employees to the orphanages to get personal involved in projects.
Education of students is also a way of enabling change in the coming generation. Mr Richards has been a guest speaker for 4th Year high school students, explaining CSR and challenging them to get involved in their communities through volunteering of their time and expertise.
Marin Gavrilovski – Member of the Steering Commettee
Marin Gavrilovski, LLM is Attorney at Law and Patent & Trademark Attorney in Skopje, Macedonia. He has finished his Master in Law studies on a joint degree program at the Universities in Skopje, Macedonia and Strasbourg, France. His Master thesis was enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in accordance with the Anti Counterfeiting Trade Agreement – ACTA. He is partner in his Law Office, lecturer at the Academy of judges and prosecutors, consultant at the Agency for promotion of entrepreneurship. He has more than 10 years experience in various legal aspects including: Representation before the Court, Administrative procedures, Trademark Law, Patent Law, Copyright Law, Contract Law, Company Law, Labour Law, Communication of a legal nature with foreign and domestic institutions, Translation of relevant legal documents, Research and analysis concerning various legal issues.
Marin is founder of the British Business Group in Macedonia. He is member of the Steering committee and Chairman of the General Assembly of BBGM.
