COBCOE Annual General Meeting and Conference

On April 9th 2014 the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE) has organized its Annual General Meeting and the Conference “Make Europe Work!” at the ICAEW in City, London, as well as, the traditional Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Law Society in London.

The COBCOE Annual conference and the Gala Dinner are the highlight in the COBCOE annual business and social events calendar and has become the focal point for exchange of ideas and information about the greater economic landscape in Europe.

The 2014 conference was focused on demonstrating the key drivers for achieving the future capability of Europe in delivering real value for trade and investment across its diverse regions.

Furthermore we outlined how we, as the British bilateral chamber movement across the continent can assist in ensuring that the goals for business growth through a sustainable rise in trade and investment are realized and how we help business and government to achieve goals of mutual interest and benefit.

The conference began with an inspiring and thought-provoking lunchtime key speaker, Lady Barbara Judge CBE, a well known business personality.

Lunch was followed by a series of discourses from a group of high level business personalities from among COBCOE’s partners, including: Sir Michael Arthur KCMG, The Ambassador Partnership; Andrew Mitchell CMG, Director, Prosperity, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO); Mark Berrisford-Smith, Chief Economist,
HSBC; Andrew Ratcliffe, Vice President, ICAEW; David Thomas MBE, COBCOE Chairman, Glynis Whiting, President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Declan Collier, CEO, London City Airport.

COBCOE’s prestigious annual gala event is a celebration of the prolific talent and achievement within the British bilateral Chamber movement across Europe. The event is attended by COBCOE’s member chambers’ Board members and senior executives, business members of the chambers across Europe, COBCOE’s partners and affiliates and members of British chambers belonging to the wider British Business Worldwide alliance across the world. Other guests include members of parliament, journalists, members of the overseas and British diplomatic corps, UK and overseas government officials as well as business leaders and high wealth individuals from across the world.
